Shea Butter is an important part of this base. For thousands of years, humans have applied and consumed shea butter for its skin-protecting properties. It is very rich in Omega-6 linoleic and Omega-9 oleic Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), which comprise over 50% of shea butter by weight. It also contains large, naturally occurring concentrations of retinol, which reduce wrinkles, as well as various highly beneficial naturally occurring UV absorbers, antioxidants and Omega-3 EFAs. It also has a natural SPF of up to 8. 

Shea butter is reported to be a natural moisturizer and emollient, as well as a competent cell regenerator. It pulls moisture from the air, allowing the skin to absorb extra moisture throughout the day.
