Made in the Adidas ‘ClimaCool’ range that was introduced ahead of the 2015-16 season; as part of the new wave of Adidas fittings, these dimensions lend themselves to an excellent size large fitting football shirt.

DESCRIPTION:

Adidas became Manchester United’s kit supplier ahead of the 2015-16 season, thus ending the club’s 13-year relationship with Nike. To usher in the coming together for the first time since 1992; Adidas would create a gorgeous throwback to the home shirt used between 1982-84, which was also made by Adidas. Replete with the white v-neck collar and white sleeve cuffs, complimented with black trims; this is the quintessential modern upgrade to a shirt if there ever was one! This shirt would be synonymous with many events of what was a rollercoaster season for ‘the Red Devils' – The Group Stage exit from the Champions League, the rise of Marcus Rashford, the bizarre events of the final day of the season and the eventual winning of the FA Cup; all of which culminated in the dismissal of Louis Van Gaal at the end of the season!

THE SEASON:

After achieving the main objective – the return to Champions League football; the 2015-16 season saw the expectations of Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United increase, with many expecting them to be much closer to the title than the 4^th place they finished in 2014-15.

Just as there was 12 months earlier; transfer activity was at a premium with – Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Sergio Romero all joining the club while - Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria, Nani, Robin Van Persie, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Javier Hernandez, Adnan Januzaj, Victor Valdes and Anders Lindegaard all either moved permanently or on loan. The biggest result however, may have been the ability to retain David de Gea after his move to Real Madrid spectacularly collapsed on the final day of the transfer window!

United raised the curtain the 2015-16 Premier League season when they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Old Trafford, and they leveraged their impressive start to the season to reach 1^st after 7 games, with a start of 5 wins, 1 draw and a loss ahead of the trip to the Emirates Stadium to meet Arsenal on October 4^th. A crushing 3-0 defeat would set the tone for what was an inconsistent season, where United would slip as low as 6^th at the end of 2015.

The 2016 portion of the season would see form improve, and secure key wins over: Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City; putting them within 6 points of 2^nd place Spurs ahead of their meeting on Match-Day 33 on April 10^th. Once again, they’d be defied by a 3-0 score, and would eventually have to settle for a 5^th place finish. For the 2^nd time in 4 years, they would have to finish behind Manchester City due to goal difference!

On the cup-front; United’s return to the Champions League began by crushing Club Brugge 7-1 on aggregate to reach the Group Stages, however, at the peak of United’s tailspin in winter 2015; they would have to drop into the Europa League after a stunning 3-2 defeat away against Wolfsburg on Match-Day 6 saw the German side progress at their expense. Their Europa League adventure was no less entertaining as they vanquished Midtjylland 6-2 on aggregate, before falling at the Last 16 in the first ever European meeting between Liverpool and Manchester United!

There would be the silver lining at the end of the season as Manchester United ended a 12 year wait to be crowned FA Cup champions again! In the May 21^st 2016 Final against Crystal Palace; goals from Juan Mata and then Jesse Lingard in Extra Time would see United come back from a goal down against Crystal Palace to win their record-equalling 12^th FA Cup title by a 2-1 score in what would be ‘LVG’s last stand as the club’s manager!
